Joe Rains Beach

Low marsh sill plantings at Joe Rains Beach six months after project completion

Summary

The living shoreline project at Joe Rains Beach in Cedar Key stretches 450 linear feet and is open to the public. It was a partnership effort led by UF/IFAS, the City of Cedar Key, and local residents. This project was paired with a dredging effort, using the dredged material to help build up the site. Low and high marsh plants were added in late spring.
